easy 'plug
and play' installation
A revolutionary new reference electrode has been developed for
the VT-03 flow cell. This solid state reference electrode is integrated
in the inlet block of the flow cell. Consequently, inclusion of bubbles
in the flow cell is virtually impossible. The HyREF reference electrode
is absolutely maintenance-free and fully compatible with extreme mobile
phase conditions, such as high pH or modifier concentrations up to
100%.
Carbohydrate analysis
Its compatibility with high pH makes the HyREF particularly useful
for carbohydrate analysis, at pH 12 - 14. While the Ag/AgCl reference
electrode slowly dissolves at such high pH, the HyREF is stable and
absolutely maintenance free under these extreme conditions. Carbohydrates
can be analysed in the 'pulse mode' of the DECADE using a HyREF flow
cell with a gold working electrode or by using the INTRO with a flow
cell with copper working electrode. Conditions are given in Application
Note 214-003 and 214-001.
Application at high modifier percentages
The HyREF is compatible with any modifier percentage, even up to
100%. The Ag/AgCl reference electrode with the saturated chloride
salt bridge is not convenient for such extreme conditions. A typical
example is the analysis of vitamins A, D, E and K using a HyREF flow
cell with a glassy carbon working electrode. Conditions are given
in Application Note 218-004 and 218-005.
Ordering information
Flow cells of the HyREF type are available with glassy carbon, platinum,
gold, silver and copper working electrode. They can be used in the
DECADE II and the INTRO electrochemical detector.
