October 2007
Amsterdam, The Netherlands: Today, October 10th, 2007,
Jean-Pierre Chervet (founder and former president of LC
Packings and till end of 2005 director at Dionex Corp.) announced the acquisition of Antec Leyden BV.
Antec Leyden is a privately held company specialized in
supplying system solutions using High Performance Liquid
Chromatography (HPLC) with electrochemical detection (ECD).
Dedicated system solutions for environmental, clinical,
pharmaceutical and neuroscience applications have been
developed with the ALEXYS LC-EC system.
Antec Leyden is headquartered in Zoeterwoude, The
Netherlands, where sales & marketing, R&D, and manufacturing
takes place. Worldwide Antec is represented by a network of
distinguished distributors. For more than 17 years Antec
Leyden has been the world’s leading supplier of
ultra-sensitive electrochemical detectors and flow cells.
Antec has become one of the key players in the Neuroscience
market for the analysis of neurotransmitters such as
monoamines, serotonin and amino acids. With the recent
introduction of its turn key ALEXYS LC-EC system, Antec has
gained recognition in the environmental, food and beverage
industry (phenols), the biotech and pharmaceutical industry
(aminoglycosides, macrolide antibiotics), the clinical and
diagnostic market (monitoring of metabolic diseases).
Commenting on the acquisition, Mr. Chervet said, "I am
excited about the acquisition of Antec Leyden’s technologies
and the dedicated and competent people associated with it.
Together with the two other share holders Dr. Nico Reinhoud
(Managing Director) and Mr. Martin Eysberg (Director Sales &
Marketing) we form a very dynamic and complementary
management team, that will allow us to quickly react to our
customer needs, provide highest quality products and
services and to expand into new markets very rapidly.
Furthermore it is the physics that makes LC-EC so attractive
for future applications and markets. Electrochemical
detection is in many cases much more sensitivity than MS,
and this for less than 1/20 of the costs. Linearity of up to
7 orders of magnitude making it the almost perfect detector
for quantification, with the extremely high selectivity,
making LC-EC the perfect tool for target analysis in complex
matrices, e.g., biological fluids. In addition, the ease of
miniaturization and its on-line coupling with MS for
electrochemical signal enhancement opens many new
opportunities for the future."
Commenting on the acquisition, Dr. Reinhoud said, "I am
delighted to welcome Jean-Pierre Chervet on board. With our
extremely sensitive detectors Antec Leyden always had a
strong presence in Neuroscience research. With his
experience and contacts in the analytical instrument market
I see great opportunities for Antec Leyden to grow stronger
in other areas as well."
"Antec Leyden is very pleased to have Jean-Pierre Chervet on
board," Mr. Eysberg recently stated that "his 18 years of
experience with LC Packings will be very beneficial to Antec
Leyden and our customers!"
